Student Support Services

Student Health Services

The Florida Polytechnic University Health Clinic, located in the Wellness Center, provides initial diagnosis and treatment of simple injuries and/or illnesses, and appropriate follow-up for many short-term illnesses. Our providers are experienced in treating common medical problems seen on college campuses and are advocates of a wellness approach to health care. The physical examination form and an immunization record must be completed by a physician prior to registration for all full-time students.

Counseling

The University Counseling Center provides short-term counseling assistance. Students experiencing issues that may affect their academic performance, including stress, relationship/family issues, alcohol/drug problems, eating disorders, depression, and gender issues can contact a professional counselor.

Students are seen at the Counseling Center on a short-term basis.  Students who require long-term services will be referred for counseling within the community. Students can call 1-800-878-5470 to be connected with counseling services. Support is available 24/7.

Academic Success Center (ASC)

The Academic Success Center (ASC) provides a variety of services and opportunities that supplement and reinforce what is being presented in the classroom, while also helping to prepare students for the workforce by offering services that assist with career development. Through workshops, table talks, and self-enhancement activities, the ASC is a central hub of student success at Florida Polytechnic University.

Housed in both the IST Building 2nd floor Commons and ASC East, the ASC is ready to help connect students with University resources.

Disability Services

In compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Florida Polytechnic University seeks to provide accommodations for students with disabilities, which enable the student on a basis equal to those without disabilities.

The Office of Disability Services, located in ASC East, coordinates assistance for students with disabilities. It is the responsibility of the student with a disability to identify him/herself as disabled to The Office of Disability Services. An intake interview will be conducted and appropriate referrals and/or accommodations made. Documentation of the disability may be requested.

Student Ombudsman

The Office of the Ombuds at Florida Polytechnic University is a confidential, impartial, independent and informal resource for students who have encountered university-related issues and concerns. The Ombuds Office’s mission is to facilitate fair and equitable resolution processes that promote student success.

The university ombudsman can be the first resource when a student does not know where to get information for a particular situation; or as a last resort, when normal channels of communication have failed to bring resolution to a difficulty.
