ISS Health Insurance Requirement

International Student Health Insurance Requirement

Florida Board of Governors (BOG) Regulation 6.009 requires that all international students with F and J status have medical insurance before registration. Proof must be submitted to the International Student Services (ISS) via email at ISS@floridapoly.edu.

No international student in F or J nonimmigrant status shall be permitted to register or to continue enrollment at a university without demonstrating that the student has adequate medical insurance coverage for illness or accidental injury that meets the minimum requirements  .

  • J visa holders are required to have coverage for their dependents (if residing with them in the United States)
  • F visa holders are not required to have coverage for their dependents, but it is recommended.

Coverage must be continuous; it cannot lapse during school breaks/annual vacations, even if you return to your country during the break.

  • This means you must have coverage for the entire year (see minimum coverage dates).
  • To be eligible for enrollment, you must provide evidence of coverage for the Fall and Spring semesters (at the minimum).

Accepted Evidence of Health Insurance Coverage:

Both of the following must be submitted to satisfy the health insurance coverage requirement:

Health Insurance Holds
