Student Support Services

Student Health Services

The Florida Polytechnic University Health Clinic, located in the Wellness Center, provides initial diagnosis and treatment of simple injuries and/or illnesses, and appropriate follow-up for many short-term illnesses. Our providers are experienced in treating common medical problems seen on college campuses and are advocates of a wellness approach to health care. An immunization record must be completed by a physician prior to registration for all full-time students. All students are asked to have access to their medical insurance information, if any, when they visit the Campus Health Clinic.

Mental Health Counseling

Short-term counseling is available for currently enrolled Florida Poly students.  Students who require long-term counseling services will be referred for counseling within the community.

Students are encouraged to reach out for support for any issue that may affect their academic performance, including depression, stress, anxiety, self-esteem, anger, relationships and eating disorders. To be connected with a counselor, email CARE services at care@floridapoly.edu or call 863-874-8599.

Counselors are available 24/7 at 1-800-878-5470.

The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is also available 24/7 at 1-800-273-8255.

Academic Success Center (ASC)

The Academic Success Center (ASC) provides a variety of services and opportunities that supplement and reinforce what is being presented in the classroom, while also helping to prepare students to be academically successful in the classroom. Through first-year registration advising, academic workshops, and special cohort support, the ASC is a central hub of student success at Florida Polytechnic University. Currently, located in the IST Building room 1019, the ASC is ready to help students succeed academically and connect them with University resources.

Disability Services

In compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Florida Polytechnic University seeks to provide reasonable accommodations to students with disabilities.

Reasonable accommodations are determined via an interactive process, which consist of student submitting an application, supporting medical documentation, and meeting with the Office of Disability Services (ODS) staff. No service or accommodation is provided automatically or unilaterally by this office. Each student must initiate the process by contacting ODS and submitting a completed application with disability related documentation for any accommodations that may be needed. All records are held and retained in a confidential manner.

To discuss needs for academic, housing, or dining accommodations based on a documented disability, please contact the Office of Disability Services:

International Student Services - Student Affairs

International Student Services-Student Affairs (ISSSA) strives to make the campus experience engaging for international students. Information about local activities and how to get involved on campus are available, as well as annual educational field trips for all international students. Additionally, ISSSA provides an international student orientation, information on banking and airport travel details. Please contact Dr. Miller at kmiller@floridapoly.edu for more information.

Student Ombuds

The Office of the Ombuds at Florida Polytechnic University is a confidential, impartial, independent and informal resource for students who have encountered university-related issues and concerns. The Ombuds Office’s mission is to facilitate fair and equitable resolution processes that promote student success.

The university ombuds person can be the first resource when a student does not know where to get information for a particular situation; or as a last resort, when normal channels of communication have failed to bring resolution to a difficulty.

To make an appointment, contact 863-874-8500 or email ombuds@floridapoly.edu.

CARE Services

CARE Services can help students identify and overcome barriers that affect a student’s ability to be successful at Florida Poly. These barriers can be academically related, but they can also include mental health concerns, financial concerns, or personal concerns. CARE Services supports students in the navigation of systems and access to resources. CARE Services can be reached at care@floridapoly.edu or 863-874-8641.
