Internships

Graduate Internships

Graduate students, with departmental and Graduate Studies approval, may pursue an internship to count toward their degree program credits (though an internship is not required for any graduate program currently). Typically, an internship would take place after the first year, over the summer. Students are required to enroll in “EGN 5911 - Research” and complete certain requirements in order to obtain credit for the internship experience.

International Students

  • In accordance with USCIS policy F-1 graduate students must complete one academic year (one fall and spring term) before they may apply for an off-campus internship. Students who meet this criterion must obtain an internship offer letter and submit a copy to ISS@floridapoly.edu with a Curricular Practical Training (CPT) request. CPT is required for F-1 students to participate in an internship off-campus. Students may not begin working until they have been approved by a Designated School Official (DSO) and must enroll in the required course, EGN 5911 - Research.
  • Optional Practical Training (OPT) is an additional off-campus employment benefit that can be utilized by students that are ineligible for CPT or to secure employment after graduation. This benefit requires a fee and additional application with United States Customs and Immigration Services (USCIS), please contact ISS for guidance on the application process and additional criteria.
