Storytelling and Digital Media Certificate

Storytelling is one of the oldest human activities and the foundation of cultural and national identities. Stories are told every day, in every medium, and shape our beliefs and actions. As scientists, engineers, and technologists, Florida Poly students can more effectively impact the world if they are able to understand and deliver their technical efficacy through the power of story. Whether it is through the presentation of data, the impact of a scientific finding, or the creation of an immersive experience, the ability to understand and tell a good story is essential to captivating and moving an audience to act.

The Department of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences and the Department of Computer Science jointly propose a certificate program in Storytelling and Digital Media. This certificate program will follow all existing rules associated with upper-level certificate programs, including the 12-credit hour requirement. Students in the program will take 6 credits in “storytelling” (from AHSS) and 6 credits in Digital Media (from CS).

Certificate Outcomes

1. Students will demonstrate sophistication in the craft of storytelling in their chosen media.

2. Students will demonstrate facility with a range of multi-media tools for enhancing and delivering a story experience.
