Learning Compact

Florida Polytechnic University’s Academic Learning Compact describes what students, who follow the major’s study plan, will know and be able to do. These are listed as core student learning outcomes.

College: Engineering
Program: Mechanical and Industrial Engineering
Purpose of the Program: The Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Bachelor of Science degree program at Florida Polytechnic University is designed to provide a synergetic foundation in the disciplines of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering through broad educational experiences. The program offers four concentrations, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Motion Intelligence, Multifunctional Materials, and Nanotechnology. The program seeks to bring an understanding of the fundamental principles of science and engineering by providing students with hands on learning experience and applied research opportunities.
Graduate will know and be able to do:
  • Apply knowledge of foundational principles of engineering in a defined problem;
  • Design and conduct experiments specific to the discipline of GDT, Motion Intelligence, Multifunctional Materials, and Nanotechnology;
  • Function on a team with either different roles or disciplines in order to accomplish a goal;
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze an engineering scenario, product, or process using operational models;
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze and engineering scenario, product, or process using engineering tools; and
  • Demonstrate ability to analyze and interpret data within a multidisciplinary environment.
