PHY 3101 - Modern Physics


Credits: 3

Course Description: This course introduces discoveries in modern physics. Topics include optics, the special theory of relativity, particle-like properties of electromagnetic radiation, wavelike properties of matter, the Schrodinger wave equation, the Rutherford-Bohr model of the atom, the Hydrogen atom in wave mechanics, and contemporary applications.
Prerequisites: PHY 2049 - Physics 2  and MAC 2312 - Analytic Geometry and Calculus 2  
Co-requisite: MAC 2313 - Analytic Geometry and Calculus 3  and MAP 2302 - Differential Equations
