CGN 3022L - Soil and Water Lab

Credits: 3

Course Description: This course builds on foundational civil engineering concepts and applies them to designing and executing civil engineering laboratory experiments. Students will investigate and develop laboratory apparatuses demonstrating principles and phenomena, and understand the practical concepts of soil mechanics, fluid mechanics, water resources, and hydraulic and hydrologic properties of water. The course includes functional representations, concept evaluation, and experiment planning and requires extensive written communication and documentation. This course enhances students’ understanding of civil engineering principles and prepares them to address open-ended problems in future coursework, including the senior capstone design project.
