Florida Polytechnic University’s Master of Science in Engineering (MS) program provides students with an advanced engineering education. The program prepares students with the necessary skills for advancing their careers in industries involved in emerging technologies, product development, and program management with specializations in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Engineering. Specifically, the program includes two focus areas in

  • Electronic, Communication, and Control Systems, and
  • Robotics

Upon completion of the Master of Science in Engineering Degree in the College of Engineering, students will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of foundational principles of engineering in an open-ended problem.
  • Independently design and conduct experiments specific to one of Mechanical and Industrial, Electrical or Computer Engineering.
  • Discriminate and select technologies in order to address individual or organizational needs.
  • Analyze and evaluate an engineering scenario, product, or process using engineering tools.

Admissions Requirements


Admission decisions are based on consideration of the applicant’s academic records, letter of interest, resume and letters of recommendation.

The following are the admissions requirements:

  • A bachelor degree in engineering or a closely related discipline from a regionally accredited university
  • A minimum GPA of 2.7 in the last 60-semester credits attempted
  • Graduate Record Exam (GRE) may be required for applicants with an undergraduate GPA of less than 3.25.

  • A letter of interest
  • Two letters of recommendation.

Degree Core Requirements


Thesis or Project Option


Students select a two-part Thesis option for 6 credits or a one-part Project option for three credits. In either case, the total number of program credits to be earned is 30.

University Graduation Requirements


  • Completion of 30 credits of approved graduate courses with a GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Meeting any deficiencies identified by the Graduate Student Advisor.
  • Compliance with all other university graduation requirements
