CGN 4951 - Civil Engineering Design Capstone 1 Credits: 3
Course Description: Teams of students will design, develop, and begin testing a solution to a real-world civil engineering problem appropriate to the discipline. Projects will address contemporary challenges in areas such as structural, geotechnical, transportation, water resources, or environmental engineering. Students will be responsible for defining project objectives, conducting feasibility studies, and preparing preliminary designs. Verbal and written technical and managerial reports are required throughout the course. This course emphasizes teamwork, project management, and effective communication and meets communication/writing-intensive requirements. Prerequisites: CGN 3022L - Soil and Water Lab and CGN 3023L - Structures and Materials Lab
