ENV 3049 - Life Cycle Assessment and Modeling Credits: 3
Course Description: Life cycle assessment (LCA) is a modeling tool for quantifying the environmental impacts of various products, services, and processes. Traditional methods of life cycle assessment relying on ISO 14040 will be introduced, along with principles of life cycle thinking (e.g., material and energy flow analysis, zero waste, circular economy, sustainable materials management). Topics include creating methods for goal and scope analysis, for life cycle inventory, for impact assessment, and for interpretation; reviewing case studies; and application of principles and previous topics for simulation of student developed LCA study. Prerequisites: EGN 2002C Skills and Design 2 Co-requisite or Prerequisite: ENV 3004C Environmental Engineering Lab I or EGN 3015C Mechanical Lab Design 1 Primary Term(s) Offered: Rotation Year
