In compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended, and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, Florida Polytechnic University seeks to provide reasonable accommodations to students with a documented disability. The goal is that those individuals with disabilities can participate in the programs that are offered in the same way as non-disabled students. Accommodations must not pose an undue burden, and must still meet the essential learning elements of the course. Students with disabilities are expected to perform at the same level as other students once they are provided with appropriate accommodations.
Reasonable accommodations are determined via an interactive process, which consist of student submitting an application, supporting medical documentation, and meeting with ODS staff. No service or accommodation is provided automatically or unilaterally by this office. Each student must initiate the process by contacting the Office of Disability Services and submitting a completed Request Form for any accommodations that may be needed. Supporting medical information should be forwarded directly to the ODS. All records are held and retained in a confidential manner.
Accommodations include, but are not limited to, academic modifications, support services and use of auxiliary learning aids. For housing accommodations, please reach out to residential housing, and Auxiliary Services for meal plan needs.
