Applied Mathematics Certificate

The certificate provides non mathematics majors the opportunity to learn advanced mathematics which will help them in graduate school and in obtaining high tech jobs.

The particular courses making up the certificate include (1) partial differential equations with a focus on modeling in physical systems–a critical background for engineering and physics; (2) a linear algebra course, which forms the platform for work in data science and is critical in solving large-scale problems; (3) a course in computation with a focus on the intersection between mathematics and computer science; and (4) an elective course from an array of applied mathematics disciplines. The desired outcome is for student receiving a bachelor’s degree to have additional mathematical training that enhances and further strengthens the degree.
