Civil engineering students obtain a strong foundation in principles and practices to contribute to innovative solutions for a sustainable and resilient infrastructure. Students will gain technical depth in specific disciplines - geotechnical, structural, water resources, transportation, construction, and environmental - and use this knowledge to design functional infrastructure systems that address multifaceted sociotechnical challenges. In today’s world, students are presented with the opportunity to incorporate information technology driven innovation, such as building information modeling, artificial intelligence, remote sensing, and to offer pioneering solutions for massive societal challenges. Civil engineering students will be workforce ready with the technical knowledge and professional skills to adapt to our ever-changing environment, societal and political challenges, and emerging technologies.
The Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering degree program at Florida Polytechnic University provides a foundation in the holistic design of complex environmental systems with curriculum that applies science, analysis, and engineering design to environmental concerns to protect human health and the environment. The program applies traditional concepts and principals of engineering to create innovative solutions with hands-on, project-based learning in both laboratory and field implementation to topics related to pollution control, conservation practices, and real-life policy and ecosystems. The program offers elective courses in sustainability practices in engineering, water and wastewater treatment, environmental monitoring and testing, municipal solid and hazardous waste management, and geospatial assessment, as well as, applied research opportunities with real world implications.

Purpose of the Program:

The Civil Engineering Bachelor of Science degree program at Florida Polytechnic University is designed to provide students core competencies in a range of civil engineering applications and facilitate student success through a comprehensive, liberal education foundation that complements students’ in-depth study of technical fields and principles and application of design. Civil Engineers from Florida Poly will graduate with the knowledge and skill to enter industry successfully or continue their education at the graduate level.
